Soundtrack Q & A
Q: Was the music performed specifically for the movie, or is it taken from recorded music that is publicly available? I've never heard a better performance of the Ninth. I'd love to get the full recording if possible, not just the fragments in the soundtrack. (from Stanley Shapiro in Teaneck NJ USA)
A: Symphony No. 9 in D minor Op. 125 "Choral" by Ludwig van Beethoven (thanks to rockd, Birmingham, AL USAadd more info
A: Is Symphony No. 9 in D minor Op. 125 "Choral" performed by Lucia Popp, Carolyn Watkinson, Peter Schreier, Robert Holl, Netherlands Radio Chorus and the Royal Concertgebow Orchestra of Amsterdam conducted by Bernard Haitink. But in my humble opinion the best performance of this symphony (or any of Beethoven symphonies for that matter) is made by Furtwangler and the Berlin Philharmonic in 1942. I really recommend you this version. Is simply breathtaking. (thanks to liv, romaniaadd more info

Q: What is the music heard when Beethoven, lying in his bed, shortly before dying, explains to Anna the approach of death and the calling from God? Thank you. Best regards from Portugal! (from Nuno in Portugal)
A: I think it is a variation or adaptation from String Quartet 15, 3rd movement. This string quartet progresses from illness (1st and 2nd movements) to thanksgiving to God for recovery (3rd movement) to the ebulence of full recovery of health (4th movement) (thanks to Tob, USAadd more info

Q: What is the music heard when Beethoven walks throughout the forest? (from Rodolfo in Monterrey, Mexico)
A: I believe it is the 3rd or 4th movement in his 9th symphony. (thanks to Dustin, Oceanside CA USAadd more info

Q: Where can I obtain the sheet music for Anna's Etude and Variation?
...from Robert in West Palm Beach (answer Robert's question)

Q: What is the music playing as Beethoven walks through the woods of Kahlenberg, in the scene "Peaceful Hours"?
...from Tom in Illinois (answer Tom's question)
