Soundtrack Q & A
Q: In Heavy Metal 1981 a futuristic band plays a tune with a heavy bass beat and the line goes something like "Why don't you come over to my house baby." I am struggling to find out who did it and what the name is. I thought it was Blue Osyter Cult but after checking the song from the movie it wasn't on it. Can anybody help? (from Tom in Los Angeles, Ca)
A: I found it and I was way off. It's Devo singing "Through Being Cool." But why doesn't it apear on the soundtrack CD? (thanks to ttavella, L A CAadd more info

Q: For the longest time, I have been trying to figure out what song is playing when the space ship picks up that scientist guy and the girl and takes them away. While flying through space, the two "pilots" snort up a line the size of the grand canyon. Afterwards, you look out the window and everything is all psychadelic with the colors and pictures. What the hell is the song playing in that scene? (from Chaz in Jersey)
A: I think its Black Sabbath's "E5150." (thanks to The Dude, New Jerseyadd more info
A: Okay, in the scene where the space ship picks up the humans, it's the intro to "Dreamin" by Cheap Trick. I think the song where they are flying thru space is "True Companion" by Donald Fagen. "e5150" is when the mutants are gathering to attack the city and when the ooze mutates them. (thanks to squeege, usaadd more info

Q: On the South Park episode called "Major Boobage," they play a track from the Heavy Metal soundtrack. What track did they play? (from mac in maspeth)
A: Sammy Hagar's "Heavy Metal" (thanks to Paul Vaughn, San Antonioadd more info
A: "Heavy Metal" (Takin' A Ride) by Don Felder (thanks to Lightning, Nampa, Idahoadd more info

Q: Who sings the vocals on "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" on the Heavy Metal Soundtrack? Several people have commented to me lately that it doesn't sound like anyone in the regular BOC lineup. I'm not sure if it's the same version as is on Fire of Unknown Origin, and I cannot find anything that says who is actually singing. Thanks very much for any help you can offer. A friend has made an official guess, and I get to razz him forever if he's wrong!
