Soundtrack Q & A
Q: What music (composition), lyrics, sound design etc. is used when the "dogs" attack? (from Yana in Cape Town, South Africa)
A: The scene involving the Wargs encompasses quite a bit of music. It goes from the initial attack on Hama to the full out battle between the Rohirrim and the Warg Riders. Some of this music was heard on the OST (the recording on this page) on track 12, "Helm's Deep." (thanks to magpie, Midwest USAadd more info

Q: What's the music playing when Gandalf, Aragorn and Legolas arrived in Theoden's throne? It sounds like a very deep violin. (from Diana in california )
A: If by "music" you mean to ask what instruments are playing, then Doug Adams lists these instruments in the Annotated Score of the Two Towers: Contrabassoon, tuba, celli, contrabasses, and bass drums. The musical motif is Grima Wormtongue's theme. Get the free downloadable Annotated Score of the Two Towers here (from the official soundtrack website). (thanks to Magpie, Midwest USAadd more info
