Q: What is the song in the main trailer and in the movie when they attack the persians? It's a classical one that is amazing. (from Rob in Cali)
A: There are two songs in the main trailer: the first one is from the soundtrack and it is called "Returns a King" and the second one is "Just Like You Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails. In the movie when they attack the persians the kind of rock song is on the soundtrack, called "Fever Dream." (thanks to mitsos13, sparta,greeceadd more info

Q: What is the name of the song played when the Persian ships are being destroyed by the storm and all the Spartans are cheering? (from Steven in Indianapolis )

Q: Can you tell me what song is playing at the end of the movie? It's an arabic woman, I think Azam Ali, but I don't know which song of hers is playing. (from RAPTOR in Romania)
A: Well accordibg to the soundtrack, the song is called "Message for the Queen" but actually this is a famous song from the Macedonian region called "Zaidi, Zaidi Iasno Slance," which means "Blaze, Blaze, Blazing Sun." I can even clearly catch the lyrics in my language. (thanks to Alexander, Bulgariaadd more info
A: It's from the soundtrack by Tyler Bates. The song is called "Message for the Queen" and the singer is Azam Ali, I think. (thanks to mitsos13, sparta,greeceadd more info

A: It is by Aleksandar Sarievski. (thanks to Virus, Skopje, Macedoniaadd more info
A: It is a beautiful Macedonian song written by Aleksandar Sarievski who composed some of the most memorable Macedonian Songs. (thanks to Jasmina, Miami Beach, FL, USAadd more info
A: Aleksandar Sarievski is a great singer and songwriter, but he is certainly not the writer of the song "Zaydi, Zaydi, Yasno Slance" as the first lyric record of the song was published in Turnovo (Bulgaria) by Lyuben Karavelov in 1878. This is some 45 years before Sarievski was even born... This was the time when the people in the geographic region of Macedonia and the country Bulgaria were divided by political borders as it is now, but NOT divided by souls and hearts... No offense to the people in todays Republic of Macedonia, who have taken their new way (which I respect), but here is the response by the composer of the song "Message For the Queen" Tyler Bates: Tyler Bates - The composer of the movie "300" responding to Macedonian claims: "As the composer of the music titled 'Message For The Queen', I would like to make it clear that while the introduction expresses the woodwind melody present in many recorded versions of the song "Zajdi, Zajdi Jasno Slance", this music is equally based on Bulgarian traditional folk music." (thanks to Stoyan, Burgas, Bulgariaadd more info

Q: Hey what's the name of the song where that dude's son takes out the rhino? (from Matt in portland, maine, usa)

"Zaidi mi zaidi yasno slantze,

pokaneno, kalesano.
Doidi mi, doidi, purvo libe,
dorde ne sme vecheriali,
vecgeriali, hleb dignali,
hleb dignali i legnali.
Doidi mi doidi, purvo libe."
(thanks to Stefan, Bulgariaadd more info
A: Here is another version:
"Zajdi, zajdi, jasno sonce, zajdi pomrachi se
i ti, jasna, ej mesechino, begaj, udavi se,
Crni goro, crni sestro, dvajca da crnime,
ti za tvojte lisja le goro, jas za mojta mladost"
Tvojte lisja goro sestro, pak ke ti se vratat,
Mojta mladost goro, le sestro, nema da se vrati"

in English:
"Go down, go down, clear sun, go down and get dark
and you too, clear moon, run away get drown,
Black woods, black sister, we both are getting black
you for your black leaves, woods, I for my youth
Your leaves woods sister, again will return
My youth woods, sister, won't come back"

A: The Macedonian "barbarian" defeated Greece at the battle of Chaeronea in August 338 BC and appointed himself "Commander of the Greeks". This battle had established Macedonian hegemony over Greece and this date is commonly taken as the end of Greek history and the beginning of the Macedonian era. Greece did not regain its independence until 1827 AD. (thanks to banda, New Berlin, WI, USAadd more info

Q: Who is singing the LAST song (after the end)? The song when the credit list is scrolling down... it's something irish or similar. (from dragosvix in Romania)
A: The song playing during the end credits is "Now We Are Free" performed by Enya, as found on the Gladiator Soundtrack. A more ideal, heroic sendoff song has yet to be written, in my opinion. I have already planned to have it played at my funeral. (thanks to Rhavyc, Cincinnati, OH, USAadd more info
A: Good luck with the funeral plans. Enya does not sing on any part of the Gladiator soundtrack. Don't believe everything you read. This is not "Now We Are Free." (thanks to SoundtrackPerson, wwwadd more info
A: That is correct, Enya has nothing to do with anything on the Gladiator soundtrack, though it does sound like her work. It's actually Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard. (thanks to SuperFist, Marsadd more info

A: If you're talking about the end credits, it's "To Victory." If you wonder about the last scene of the movie when we see the 10,000 spartans ready to fight, it's "Remember Us." (thanks to ottovondoom, Franceadd more info
A: Seriously, did anyone else watch the credits? The song playing over the credits not on the soundtrack. We got screwed. (thanks to Baalor, UKadd more info
A: Yes, you're right, this song is not on the soundtrack CD. The zajdi zajdi is also different and I'd like to know what it really is. (thanks to George, Budapest, Hungaryadd more info
A: "Now We Are Free" is on the Gladiator soundtrack. It's a beautiful song. (thanks to Amy, Texasadd more info

A: "Fever Dream" is the song you are talking about (thanks to matthew clute, petoskey, michigan, usaadd more info

Q: There is a longer version of "Just Like You Imagined" from the second trailer. It has a longer start to it if you listen after "Returns a King" finishes. I can't find this longer version anywhere but it's awesome. Is it available anywhere? I've gone through every NIN album. (from Ed in UK)
A: It's on disc 1 of The Fragile album (thanks to Methuls, Stratfordadd more info

Q: Does anyone know the lyrics to the songs "Come and Get Them" and "Returns a King"... like the chorus part??? (from slkirchhoff in Michigan)
A: All the lyrics in this soundtrack are written in ancient Greek (Hellenic), just like "Mythodea" by Vangelis Papathanasiou (2001). However, because of the choir and the musical instruments it's difficult to "uncode" them. Sooner or later we will know exactly! Example: in "Come and Get Them" it says clearly in greek "Fer to, parte to" (give it/take it), and a few times in "Returns a King" these words are clearly sung: "erhontai/fainontai/potami Eurwta(?)" (come/appear/river Eyrota(?)) (thanks to Kornhlia, Hellas, Thessalonikiadd more info
A: That's a good reply from Kornhlia. Well, "Mythodea" is some short of Ancient Greek, but the 300 soundtrack is Modern Greek. I too make it "erchomai - potami Euro - ta". Eurotas being the river of Sparta. It would be nice if the lyrics were shown in the soundtrack with some brief explanation of their symbolic meaning. (thanks to Odysseus, Athens, Greeceadd more info

Q: What is the song here?  (from one2 in NYC)
A: I don't know the exact name but it's from the Gladiator soundtrack. If memory serves, it's from the last scene where Maximus is dead and walking in the after life. (thanks to SamCarter, Michiganadd more info
A: It really IS from the Gladiator soundtrack, called "Now We Are Free." (thanks to Kraal, Hungary, Europeadd more info
A: It is called "Now We Are Free" by Lisa Gerrard.... (thanks to PetaHunel, Jordanadd more info

Q: What is the song playing when Leonidas is standing in the courtyard as a teenager and gets his sword? It's snowing and everything else is paused while the song is playing. (from cksouthpaw20 in philly)
A: The song you are looking for is "Returns a King" (thanks to sen, ontarioadd more info

Q: Could someone please tell me the name of the rock song that plays right after the narrator in the movie says something like: "And the king allows himself to hope for something even more than glory. They can win"? The scene cuts to the Spartans walking in the morning in slow motion towards the audience.... (from PhilJay in San Francisco, CA)
A: Got the movie and soundtrack, the song is "Fever Dream." Checked soundtrack against movie. (thanks to Brainstorm, Anaheim,CA,USAadd more info

Q: What is the name of the song playing right at the beginning over the WB logo? (from Slim Snow in Egypt)
A: "...If you listen to that song, it's a mock of 'As Time Goes By.' So listen to it again when you get a chance. I said to Tyler [Bates, the composer], it should go {hums 'As Time Goes By' which then turns into heavy orchestral music} and then he made that into a song." - DVD audio commentary. (thanks to Anthony, Chicago, ILadd more info
A: "As Time Goes By"??? That's not on the soundtrack... who is it by?? (thanks to Amy, SAtown, TX, US of Aadd more info
A: It's only the most famous song from CASABLANCA (you know, Humphrey Bogart, "Here's to looking at you, kid")... it's the tune heard over the WB logo in just about every Warner Bros film these days. (thanks to SoundtrackDork, Row 3add more info

Q: The lyrics for "Message for the Queen" are in what language? I tried following along with the lyrics ya'll posted, but it's really hard!  (from Amy in SAtown, TX, US of A)
A: I believe the language is Slabic. (thanks to Carly, USAadd more info

Q: What is the song playing when Astinos (aka dude's son) is fighting against the Persians right before his head is chopped off? (from jenq in CA)
A: The one where he's fighting with Stelios is called "Fever Dream." (thanks to Amy, SATown, TX, US of Aadd more info
A: It is not "Fever Dream." I have searched this song on YouTube and Google for over 1 hour and still can't find it. Please rewatch the scene and give me an answer. The song is playing before and after Stelios and Astinos talk and say "...I got your back..." (thanks to Alex , Romaniaadd more info

...from Lage in Minnesota (answer Lage's question)

Q: What would you call the genre of this music? I am trying to find similar music and I have tried medieval goth but nothing comes up. Thanks for the help.
...from calvin in TN (answer calvin's question)

Q: I'm looking for the song that plays at the beginning of the preview. It's NOT "Returns a King" - I know when that one plays. It's NOT "Just Like You Imagined" - I've got that one I know when it plays as well. I haven't found anyone asking about the slow song that plays right before the NIN nails song; where in the preview a voice is heard "Be afraid, Sparta will burn to the ground" followed by, "what must a king do...etc" and finished by Leonidas response "madness?...". It sounds like slow piano and then escalates to a bit of rock and drums as he draws his sword towards the messenger. And still, it's not the intro to "Just Like You Imagined" because I know they broke that one up in pieces. So, does anyone recall, or know what song I'm talking about? I tried being very specific.
...from Ryan_R in San Antonio, TX (answer Ryan_R's question)

Q: What song is playing when Leo and Gorgo make love?
...from zach in indy (answer zach's question)
