Soundtrack Q & A
Q: In this movie there's a rap song that I really like, but I don't know what it's called or where to even begin looking for it. It's in the scene where Ludacris is driving and his friend in the car is singing a country song and then they start debating over hip hop. I would realy like to know the name of that rap song and the artist rapping it while Ludacris is talking trying to get his point across about hip hop. It's also right after part where the Mexican father tucks in his daughter for bed and his pager goes off to help another client. (from Izzy in California)
A: The only rap song I can think of is called "Problems" by Move.meant ... hope its the one you're looking for. (thanks to Lavender, Canadaadd more info
A: It's not "Problems" by Move.meant (that one plays later in the credits). The song you're talking about is "Str8UpNDown" by Move.meant. (thanks to Chris, Canadaadd more info

Q: What is the name and artist of the last song played in the movie? (from ashlee in Tulsa, OK 74105)
A: "Maybe Tomorrow" by the Stereophonics. The song is on the song soundtrack and the score CD. (thanks to Meyers, Hollywoodadd more info

Q: Who is the singer or artist performing the song heard in various scenes in the movie, particularly the one when the policeman character saved the black lady from the car accident and explosion? What is the song title as well? (from lynn in singapore)
A: It's a beautiful and haunting tradtional Welsh language song called "Lisa Lan" sung by Carol Ensley. The vocal samples come from a CD called "Vocal Planet." The ones used in the film can be listened to here. (thanks to Gwern, Cymru, Wales, U.Kadd more info
A: Sian James' stunning version is heard on the album "Y Ferch o Bedlam" on Bos Records!! (thanks to Gwynzi, Powys, Cymru, Walesadd more info
A: Mark Isham wrote the score, but the Crash score soundtrack doesn't mention the female foreign language singers. But check out "Flames," "Negligence," "Saint Christopher," and "Sense of Touch." These four songs are all used in various places in the movie. However, if you're talking about the song near the END, and not the scenes you're speaking of (which are more like 1/2 way to 2/3rds of the way through), that is "In the Deep" by Bird York. Best bet - check out the score soundtrack for your answer. (thanks to Espresso Frique, San Diego, CAadd more info
A: gwern o gymru sut fedrai gopio y can lisa lan - yr un ti di rhoi linc iddo uwch i fyny ar y wefan yma? (thanks to meics, cymru/walesadd more info
A: This song is not Fenyw Fwyn (my mistake). The first line of the song is "Bum yn dy garu lawer gwaith" - "I have loved you for a long time" and it is a traditional love song from Wales, beautifully sung. The title is "Lisa Lan" ("glan" here means "pure" though it normally means "clean"). Congratulations to Carol Ensley for this performance. (thanks to Eryl, Belmont, CA (born in Wales)add more info
A: It's definitely "Lisa Lan" by Carol Ensley. (thanks to lomas, burnley englandadd more info

Q: I would like to know the name of the song playing at the end, starting when they found the money in the tire lasting until the girl was pulled from the truck. The song was in a different language, but I really liked it? (from Louie in Queens New York )
A: I think it's called "In the Deep" by Bird York. (thanks to katerina, Varna, Bulgariaadd more info
A: The language is Welsh (Cymraeg) and the song is an old traditional composition called Lisa Lan. We sing it on rugby trips when we watch Wales play (thanks to Gafyn, Cardiff, Wales, UKadd more info

Q: Life changing movie for me - timing was perfect. What is the name of the song, and artist, near the end of the film when Terrence Howard discovers the car bonfire (looks like snow) and calls his wife? If memory serves, it is the song right after "Maybe Tomorrow" and is a female voice (not Quincy). (from Suz in Pennsylvania)
A: "In The Deep" Bird York, she sang the song live at the Oscars! It was great! (thanks to Darren , Seattleadd more info

Q: What song is playing during the credits? (from Angela in United States)
A: "Maybe Tomorrow" by the Stereophonics. See answer above. (thanks to Tommy, Indianapolisadd more info

Q: Do you know the name of the hip-hop song in the end of the credits? (from Notorious in Germany)
A: That is "Problems" by Move.meant. Good song. (thanks to Espresso Frique, San Diego, CAadd more info

Q: The song "Flames" starts off in a persian sounding theme and ends up in a Celtic sounding theme. From the posts above I can see that the Celtic element is Welsh but who is singing the first portion of the song? (from Jonathan Fox in Wilmslow, Cheshire, UK)
A: Catherine Grant did the Latin and Farsi. (thanks to jezzakay, Switzerlandadd more info

Q: What is the name of the song and artist of the song played at the very end of the movie? I think some of the lyrics are "...hold me, wrap me up, I'm falling..." It's really slow and a woman is singing it. If someone can help me out that would be great because I've been trying to figure this out for soooo long!  (from xjaclynnicolex in swedesboro, new jersey, USA)
A: I'm pretty sure the answer is "In Too Deep" by Bird York. (thanks to Morgy, bridgeport, CTadd more info
A: I think the name of the song is actually "Breathe Me" by Sia. Very haunting, I was trying to hunt it down for a while too! (thanks to Stephanie, San Diego, CAadd more info

Q: What is the name of the persian song playing on the radio? (from Amir in USA)
A: Click on this link and you can listen to the persian song. (thanks to Xibalbaa, Dubaiadd more info

Q: Does anybody know the name of the hip-hop/rap song played while Ludacris turns on his car and stars driving with his friend? Ludacris is talking about how "nig***" is used in songs. It is NOT "Problems" by move.ment. (from g4ers in dgda)
A: The song that plays is "Str8UpNDown" by Move.meant. (thanks to Chris, Canadaadd more info

Q: Can anybody tell me the name of the song near the end of the movie? The lyrics are like "...Now you're out there swimmin'..." (from brandon in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada)
A: "In the Deep" by Bird York. (thanks to bboyjkang, Canadaadd more info

Q: In the movie where Farhad is sitting on the floor, thankful for his "fereshteh" that his gun was not loaded thus saving the the little girl's life, there is a song in Persian and I really love it! Can anybody please tell me the artist and title of the song? (from ren in san rafael, california)
A: Catherine Grant of Seattle did the Farsi (Persian) song and the Latin chant. She is a professional ethnic singer. Carol Ensley (that's me) did the other female vocals. I sang an old Welsh tune called Lisa Lan and Isham built his score around it. (thanks to Carol Ensley, Ocean Shores, WA, USAadd more info
A: The Persian song is called: "Dokhtare Boyerahmadi" Here is the song on YouTube. These are the lyrics:
dokhtare boyer ahmadi noome to nadoonom yar golom
bia berim khooneye khoomon khooneye khodtoone yar golom

Translation:
The girl from Boyer Ahmad (a tribe)! I don't know your name my dear one
Let's go to my house which is your house my dear one (Everything I have belongs to you / I really love you!)
(thanks to Siavash, Sydney, Australiaadd more info

Q: Whats the name of the song heard at the end of the movie when Ludacris gives the asian man some money and then a car gets hit? The lyrics are "...I find a way home... oooh oh oh..." (from lexi in west london)
A: "Maybe Tomorrow" by Stereophonics (thanks to Lo, FLadd more info

Q: Does anyone know what the lyrics mean in the song "Flames" from the score CD? Would love to find a translation. (from Graeme in London)
A: The song by Mark Isham is called "Sense of Touch" and is sung by Carol Ensley the lyrics are from an old Welsh song called "Lisa Lan." Here is the translation
Lisa Lân---------------------------------Melody

1. Bûm yn dy garu lawer gwaith
Do lawer awr mewn mwynder maith
Bum yn dy gusanu Lisa gêl
Yr oedd dy gwmni'n well na'r mêl.

2. Fy nghangen lân, fy nghowlad glyd
Tydi yw'r lanaf yn y byd
Tydi sy'n peri poen a chri
A thi sy'n dwyn fy mywyd i.

3. Pan fyddwy'n rhodio gyda'r dydd
Fy nghalon fach sy'n mynd yn brudd
Wrth glywed swn yr adar mân
Daw hiraeth mawr am Lisa Lân.

4. Pan fyddwy'n rhodio gyda'r hwyr
Fy nghalon fach a dôdd fel cwyr
Wrth glywed swn yr adar mân
Daw hiraeth mawr am Lisa lân.

5. Lisa, a ddoi di i'm danfon i
I roi fy ngorff mewn daear ddu?
Gobeithio ddoi di, f'annwyl ffrind
Hyd lan y bedd, lle'r wyf yn mynd.

 1. Full many a time I came to woo,
Oft, Lisa came a courting you;
I kissed your lips when we did meet,
No honey every was so sweet.

2. My dainty branch, my only dear,
No woman comes your beauty near;
'Tis you who with my passion play,
'Tis you who steals my life away.

3. When'er at eve I walk apart,
Like wax will melt my lovesick heart;
And but to hear the small birds sing,
The longing to my soul will bring.

4. Ah, will you come to bid good-bye,
When in the earth my form must lie?
I hope you too will there be found,
When men shall lay me in the ground.
