Q: | I thought that Dougie Maclean did the music for this movie? I am confused. (from joy in florida) |
A: | Trevor Jones used Dougie MacLean's music, a piece called "The Gael," in several places throughout the score. It's the fiddle part you hear in the tracks "The Kiss" and "Promentory." (thanks to OSTfan, Burlingame) add more info |
A: | Trevor Jones did the big orchestral pieces. Randy Edelman did the shorter, more electronic b-side pieces. They collaborated because director Mann decided to re-orchestrate the music - it was originally going to be an all-electronic soundtrack! The fiddle piece "The Kiss" was originally composed by Dougie McLean as a Scottish folk tune, and rearranged for "Promontory" which is the big ending scene (8 minutes in the original cut). Clanaad (the Celtic group headed by Enya's sister, Maire Brennan) wrote the song "I Will Find You" which appears in some editions of the film (as the Mohicans search for the captive women.)
