Soundtrack Q & A
Q: There are pieces in the film that sound like they could be by Eric Satie, as well as other classical composers that do not seem to be listed on the soundtrack. Are these pieces on the soundtrack and if I am correct, who are these other, more "classic" composers and what are their pieces? (from Jerry in Philly)
A: Eric Satie was credited in the music portion of the credits (I saw the film tonight). Not sure what made the soundtrack, though. (thanks to chasingveronica, Cape Cod, MAadd more info

Q: In the first part of the movie there is one song starting with a piano, and it has lyrics sung by a woman. She sounds like an opera singer, and the words aren't in English. What is this song, and is it on the soundtrack CD? (from Ayelet in Israel)
A: The opening song is "Vedro con mio diletto" by Vivaldi (thanks to Luke, Burlington, Ontario, Canadaadd more info

Q: There is another opera in the middle of the film - which opera is it? (from JIMMY in Hellas)
A: It is the aria "VedrĂ² con mio Diletto" from Vivaldi's "Giustino." (thanks to Luke, Dallas, TXadd more info

Q: What is the Spanish song playing in the Elegy trailer? (from Dr. Abed in Alexandria, Egypt)
A: "La petite morte" (thanks to jorge, londonadd more info

Q: Whose piano concerto in D minor is it? (from Ygge in Suecia)
A: "Adagio" from Concerto in D minor by David Troy Francis (thanks to Islam saad, Egyptadd more info
A: Alessandro Marcello (originally this concerto was written for oboe and orchestra) (thanks to janette, sydney, australiaadd more info
A: The piece is, J. S. Bach's "Concerto in D minor" (after Alessandro Marcello) BWV 974, II. Adagio (thanks to Batu B., Istanbul, Turkeyadd more info
A: J.S.Bach (thanks to Dick, Mississauga Ont. Canadaadd more info

Q: What is the name of the piano pieces played by Ben Kingsley's character in the film? I'd like to buy the music and play myself. Thanks! (from Jax in london, england)
A: I think Satie's Gnossienne 3 and 4 (thanks to Laura, Switzerlandadd more info
A: Also "Little Fugue" by Bach (thanks to falsy69, los Angeles CAadd more info

Q: The first track of the movie is the Adagio from the Concerto in D Minor. It is performed by David Troy Francis but I believe he is not the composer. I believe it is J. S. Bach. Does anyone know what specific concert this piece is from? I have reviewed J. S. Bach's complete keyboard concerts and I can't recognize the piece. (from Basilios in Miami)
A: You're right, that piece is Bach's. It's originally written by A. Marcello for oboe and strings, and transcribed for harpsichord by Bach (BWV 974, II. Adagio). Hence its lesser known and focused state. This piano version is hardly to be found even in Gould's works. The one CD I've known is 'Glenn Gould Plays Bach and Scarlatti - 70th Anniversary Edition'. You may want to check that. (thanks to Batu B., Istanbul, Turkeyadd more info
A: The Bach song is called "Fugue in D Minor" but is usually played on the organ. the version on this movie is played by Kirill Bolshakov and is extremely hard to find. Haven't found it yet. (thanks to falsy69, los angeles,Caadd more info

Q: Ok, so Vivaldi's song "Vedro Con Mio Diletto" is featured in the film, but who is the female vocalist? Thanks! (from Vickie in Arizona)
A: I have the song on a CD by Philippe Jaroussky, who is a countertenor. A lot of Baroque arias were written for countertenor. (thanks to Foemper, belgium, europeadd more info

Q: Is there sheet music available for "Dejame recordar" by Marc Artis Garcia?
...from Jennifer in california, united states (answer Jennifer's question)

Q: What is the name of the music Ben Kingsley plays on the piano in the movie? (from Paul in Johannesburg, South Africa)
