Q: | In the late 1960s, WPLJ radio had Alex Bennett doing an overnight talk show. His theme song was an incredible smooth jazz rendition of "The Theme From The Pawnbroker." Does that version appear on this album? (from Bob Schwartz in Selden, New York) |
A: | Track 6 is an instrumental version of the theme that somewhat matches your description. It's mostly performed by the string section and not by typical jazz instruments (bass, piano, horns). It's a very slow version of the theme, though! The first track is the more jazzy version, with vocal, and of course, track 11 is the more up-beat single with Sarah Vaughan on vocal. Q: | What track is playing when Ortiz tells Uncle he is going on break? The music is going and he is running to locate the men in the pool hall, he set up the robbery and then finds his mom in church. What the name of the track that is playing during this scene? ...from lee in earth (answer lee's question) |
