A: The Director (Peter Chisolm) says on the commentary on DVD that it's a re-make of Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog". Remade because the rights for the original were too high, so they re-cut it. Probably close to the original since that's what he wanted. They did pay for the original "Northern Sky", heard at the conclusion of the movie. Chisolm says it's his favorite song ever.
